That's the Benchwarmer Effect in action. Eminent scientists from around the world are studying this mysterious force, which works over great distances with no apparent agent of transmission. NASA is planning on launching a player into orbit in order to test whether it extends to outer space. (I've recommended Lance Berkman.)
